Rebels and Syria's army agreed to a deal on Thursday, ending one of the longest stand-offs in the five-year conflict. CCTV's ALAA EBRAHIM has the latest from Damascus.
"This is how the longest standing battle of the Syrian war is coming to an end. These buses will carry over 700 militants and later on nearly 400 thousand civilians out of this Damascus suburb. The evacuation is part of deal that grants safe passage to insurgents from different rebel factions who have been fortified in Darrya for over four years when they took control of the city back in August 2012 and the Syrian army launched a wide-scale operation to force them out. Four years of fighting has left its toll on everything here. With less than two kilometers separating Darrya from the outskirts of Damascus , it was one of the closest points rebels ever had to the Syria capital and losing it will certainly undermine any plans the rebels could have to take Damascus," said CCTV reporter Alaa Ebrahim in Damascus.
