From October 2015 to May 2016 there have been nearly 150 measures implemented resulting in further trade protectionism. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said at a news conference that the upcoming G20 summit will outline an action plan to cope with the the recent surge in trade protectionism.
"China has always believed that the international community should unite as one to overcome difficulties, especially in plight. This is also what the G20 serves for.
The G20 summit in Hangzhou will continue to focus on "strong international trade and investment" . Under the premise of combating trade and investment protectionism, the summit will strive to increase mutual understanding and reach consensus, by effectively using WTO multilateral and bilateral economic communication mechanisms. The statement released at Shanghai's trade ministers meeting is the first ministerial-level report of its kind. It suggests that the world's major 20 economies share a common view over anti-protectionism," said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang.
