In order to implement the “Belt and Road” initiative and actively improve capacities of international communication, China International Television Corporation proposed an initiative early this year to set up the “Belt and Road Media Community” (the Community), aiming to jointly establish an exchange and communication platform, share reciprocal broadcasting resources and strive for creative development with mutual benefit, which was positively responded by various media around the world. So far, the Community has nearly 30 members from 23 countries and regions in five continents, including such mainstream media as Egyptian State Television, Serbian State Television, Tunisia National Television, National Geographic Channel (NGC) and Natural History New Zealand (NHNZ) Ltd. In addition, a number of organizations such as Malaysian National Television and Sony Pictures are signing Memorandums of Understanding.

As the first international alliance of film and TV media which is connected by the Silk Road and opens to the entire media, the Community will promote the communication and cooperation of international film and TV in the fields of program production, cooperative channel construction, market operation and commercial integration to create a regional cooperation platform for international film and TV which is characterized by openness, equality, mutual benefit and win-win result.
