Turkey has sent at least 10 more tanks into Syria. The reinforcement comes a day after the pro-Ankara Syrian opposition fighters ousted jihadists from the town of Jarabulus.
The operation launched by Turkey throughout the five-and-a-half-year Syrian conflict, aims at ridding the border area of Islamic State extremists and Kurdish militia. US Vice President Joe Biden, who visited Turkey on Wednesday, reiterated Washington's demands that Kurdish militia do not move west of the Euphrates following recent advances.
He also added that the group will not receive any support from the US if they do not keep that commitment. Turkish Foreign Ministry sources say that the US Secretary of State John Kerry, has told the Turkish Foreign Minister in a call that Syrian Kurdish fighters are now retreating to the east of the Euphrates.
