The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has confirmed Wednesday’s successful ballistic missile launch. The launch of “Pukguksong” was overseen by the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un.
Kim said the test-firing proved that the DPRK had “joined the front rank of military powers fully equipped with nuclear attack capabilities.” He also slammed the ongoing joint military drills between South Korea and the United States.
He pointed out that the U.S. mainland and military bases in the Asia Pacific region are now within striking range of the DPRK military.
South Korea’s defense ministry reported the DPRK test-fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile at around 5:30 a.m. local time Wednesday off the eastern coastal town of Sinpo.
