So the cauldron has been extinguished in Rio, and in four years time Tokyo will hos the world. Are they ready? However, a number of problems have surfaced: ditching an overly expensive stadium, an official logo under allegations of plagiarism, and a bribery scandal.

It was a moment of excitement for Japan, when it won the bid to the summer Olympic and Paralympic games in 2020. Tokyo has been eager to host the summer Olympics

However, Tokyo faced number of bad start, in preparing for the Games. Having to revise the official logo under allegations of plagiarism, and changed the overly expensive stadium design. Another factor that raised public concerns are the rising costs in hosting the 2020 summer Olympics and Paralympics.

According to Japanese public broadcaster survey conducted in December 2015, cost to host the 2020 Olympics had surged to six fold from the original estimate of $2.5 billion. Rising costs in building material costs and personnel expenses is expected to push the final estimate to 15 billion dollars.

"I do not understand why Tokyo and the government have to spend so much with this event, when me we still have not yet fully recovered from the Great east Japan earthquake and lives of people there are far from recovery," Sports journalist Nobuya Kobayashi said.

In a recent survey to the Tokyo residents, more than half of respondents said they do not want to see the cost increase further.

This is the second time Tokyo is to host the summer Olympics. Officials said despite couple of problems at the start, preparations for 2020 Tokyo Olympics are well planned.

Toshiro Muto, from the organizing committee says the committee not take the criticisms lightly.

"I realize there are number of criticisms now and I would expect more might happen as we approach 2020. Some would not be in our favor but it is important for us to be sincere and secure understanding form the public," Muto said.

Infrastructures projects are said to be going as planned and concerns on possible lacking accommodation have been addressed.

"The construction for the new stadium will begin form the end of this year, and all the other facilities are also due to complete by the test event in 2019," Muto said.

Despite number of negative publicity, Japanese young people are certainly looking forward for the mega event.
