Full coverage: THAAD Deployment in South Korea
Voices against the controversial deployment of the THAAD anti-missile system in South Korea are growing louder. Over ninety NGOs have formed a "National Alliance against THAAD" in the capital Seoul, and announced the launch of the "National Anti-THAAD Campaign". Organizers say the deployment will foster an arms race among neighboring countries, and threaten peace and stability in northeast Asia.
Media reports also say at least 35 opposition lawmakers have urged the government to submit the issue to the National Assembly for examination. They insist it would be unconstitutional to deploy the anti-missile system without approval from the legislature.
