Beside football, Brazil is also famous for its coffee. Coffee is a necessary part of many Brazilians' daily lives. The beverage also plays a big role in the country's economy.  

Brazil is the world's second largest consumer of coffee following the United States. It's estimated that in 2015, over 20 million bags of coffee were consumed in the country. That's about 81 litres of coffee per person.

"Without a cup of coffee, Brazilians cannot get up. It might be only a cup of coffee, without bread or anything else. But Brazilian must drink a cup of coffee after getting up," said manager of Confeitaria Colombo, Rio.

Brazil is also one of the world's major coffee producers and exporters. Brazil was the world's largest coffee exporter in the 19th century. And today, coffee exports still account for 8 to 10 percent of the country's GDP.

"Brazil is currently one of the producers of the best coffee. We still have a large volume of export. And coffee is an important product for Brazil," said staff of Coffee Museum, Sao Paulo.

Official data showed that Brazil's coffee output during 2015 and 2016 accounted for about 30 percent of the world's total volume.

Brazil's coffee exports also accounted for more than 30 percent of the total global exports. Brazil exported over 4.8 million kilos of coffee to China in 2015. That was an increase of nearly 23 percent from the previous year.
