China is the largest trading partner and the biggest source of foreign investment for Myanmar. In 2014, the bilatral trade between the two reached US$9 billion.  That represents an annual increase of nearly 23 percent. Meanwhile, China has invested over US$25 billlion in Myanmar as of this year. It is half of the total foreign investment in Myanmar. It is also 3 and-a-half times the investment from the United States, Japan and other European countries combined.

And since the new government took office in April, Myanmar has been lifting some restrictions on exports and imports to boost its trade. It means more potential for growth in bilateral trade.
