China’s Lin Dan has won against India’s Srikanth Kidambi in the men’s badminton singles Olympic quarterfinals. Lin defeated Kidambi 2:1. Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei went on to defeat Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei and China’s Chen Long beat South Korea’s Son Wan Ho. Both are also in the men’s singles quarterfinals. Lin Dan will face Lee Chong Wei in the semifinals on August 19.

In the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase final, Kenya’s Conseslus Kipputo has won the gold, finishing in just over eight minutes and three seconds. Evan Jager from the United States took silver in the event, coming in just one second behind Kipputo. Ezekiel Kemboi, also representing Kenya, finished in third place.
