South Korean Defense Minister Han Min-goo will visit Seongju County later today to talk with residents about the deployment of the controversial THAAD anti-missile system.
The ministry said Han would explain the decision-making process of the plan. Many residents have objected the decision to deploy the THAAD system in their county. Meanwhile, the ministry said the U.S. Army chief, General Mark Milley, would visit the South Korea later this week.
Milley is expected to be briefed about the installation plans. This will be Milley’s second visit to the country since he assumed the position in August 2015.
