China has voiced 'firm' opposition after two Japanese cabinet members paid tribute to the Yasukuni Shrine on the 71st anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II.
At a daily news briefing, China's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang said that the move proved that the Japanese government has the wrong attitude towards the historical issue. The Yasukuni Shrine honors 14 Class-A convicted war criminals from WWII. It is also regarded as a symbol of Japan's past militarism.
