Day 8 of the Olympics, and China has won a total of 41 medals: 13 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze. China claimed both silver and bronze in men’s trampoline.

Dong Dong, the defending champion, took second place, while Gao Lei secured the third.
In the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol, Li Yuehong won the bronze with a final total score of 27.
And there was another bronze in the bag for China when rower Duan Jingli came in third in the women’s single sculls.
Meanwhile, history was made in other countries: Puerto Rico won its first ever Olympic gold medal when tennis player Monica Puig overpowered Germany’s Angelique Kerber in the women’s singles match.
U.S. swimmer Katie Ledecky came out tops in the women’s 800 meter freestyle event, and broke the world record in the process. This is her fourth gold medal and second world record in this Olympics.
