Russian President Vladimir Putin has met his top military and intelligence service brass. The Kremlin said they reviewed scenarios for counter-terrorism security measures along the land border, offshore, and in the air space of the Crimean Peninsula.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry had criticized the Ukrainian government for what it called “its inaction and provocative moves.” Russia’s security service also released video of what it said as evidence of Ukraine’s spy network in Crimea. Russia believes the network was plotting acts of terror and sabotage on critical and life-supporting elements of the peninsula’s infrastructure.
A court in Crimea later in the day announced that a Ukrainian suspect in the terrorist plot was arrested.
