The 10th China International Folk Art Festival has kicked off in Xi'ning, capital of Northwest China's Qinghai Province. Artists from 13 countries are taking part in this year's gathering.
For the first time ever, this year's festival is being held on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. More than 260 artists from around the world are presenting the best folk arts their countries have to offer.
The five-day event is scheduled to last untill Friday. Launched in 1990 with the approval of the State Council, the festival has been organized triennially by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and a designated host city.
So far, more than 3,000 artists from 64 countries and regions have taken part throughout the event's history.
