Full coverage: 2016 Rio Olympics
The first day of competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics concluded just a few hours ago. 12 golds were handed out in Brazil so let's take a look at the medal table.
Australia have the early lead with two golds and one bronze while Hungary have two golds. The USA are third with one gold and four silvers. South Korea and Japan round out the Top Five with one gold each. From fifth to tenth situation it's even with Argentina, Belgium, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam all winning one gold. A great moment for Vietnam and Vinh Xuan Hoang who won the men's 10 meter air pistol title to capture his country's first gold ever at the Games.
And China currently sits 11th with two silver and three bronze. In swimming Sun Yang finished second in the men's 400 meter freestyle while Yi Siling was edged out for the gold in the women's 10 meter air rifle.
