Full coverage: 2016 Rio Olympics

We begin in Brazil where despite the Russian doping controversy and all of the other problems that have plagued the buildup to the first Olympics ever held in South America, the Rio Summer Games will begin in less than 24 hours.

The opening ceremony kicks off at the Maracana Stadium at 8 pm in Brazil, or 7 am Beijing time. And as Joel Richards told us earlier, anticipation is simmering in the host city.
