China's men's basketball team have arrived in Brazil in preparation for the Rio Olympic Games. An unexpected scare occurred during the national team's departure from the airport. The Basketball Magazine reported on social media site Weibo that the team's bus was caught in a roadside gunfight, in which six locals were killed. 

The Chinese team and reporters on the bus were reported safe. With an average age of 23, China have been placed in Group A with defending champions, the United States. Australia, Venezuela, Serbia and France round the group. They kick off their campaign against the "Dream Team" on Saturday, with head coach Gong Luming saying he hopes the team can gain valuable experience.
