Here is another look at the distinguished career of the man known as Super Dan who is seeking his third gold medal in Rio.
Born in 1983, Lin boasts a professional record of 585 wins against 80 losses and has claimed 62 title. He first held the world number one ranking in 2002, but lost it after one week. He then recatpured the top spot in March 2004 and held it until August 2008.
Lin is currently number three in the BWF standings. Super Dan was the men's singles champion at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and then defended his crown four years later in London. He also won the World Championships on five occasions.
