Political parties in South Africa have gone all out to woo voters ahead of Wednesday's local government elections. The ruling party held its final rally on Sunday, and says it's confident it'll come out tops when South Africans go to the polls.

A final push ahead of Wednesday's hotly contested polls. Thousands of ANC faithful pack the stadium, dressed in yellow, green and black.

They're here to see their president, Jacob Zuma. Delivering his keynote address, Zuma tells supporters that the ruling party has improved the lives of South Africans. But reminds them that there's still work to be done.

"South Africa has changed considerably in the past few years because the hard work of our people led by the ANC. In the past, our people lived in dirty, dusty townships and villages and many still do," Zuma said.

In a country ravaged by high levels of unemployment, job creation remains top of the agenda.

"The ANC will continue to use every opportunity to create jobs at a local level through ensuring that wherever there are big projects, local services are being used. We will take forward projects that create employment for our youth," Zuma said.

Tackling corruption is also a key priority...It's an issue that's plagued the ruling party.

"The ANC wants an end to all forms of corruption and will diligently pursue all those who are corrupt," Zuma said.

The ANC's alliance partners are also here, throwing their weight behind Zuma and his administration...

"Our support for the ANC is based on the massive achievements that we have made. We are calling upon all workers and poor of our country to come out in their numbers to vote for the African National Congress," said Blade Nzimande, General Secretary of South African Communist Party.

ANC stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela is rarely seen in public due to her ill health, but she too has shown up for the party.

The elections are expected to be highly contested in three major metros.

And while the ANC is seen to be losing the support among middle class voters, it's hoping that this final rally will prove those perceptions wrong.

After months of intense campaigning - with political party leaders crisis-crossing the country - asking for people to vote, it's now up to South Africans to make their choice on Wednesday.
