Police in Texas state's capital city Austin said an "active" gunman has shot "mulitple" victims. Local media report one person has been killed.

The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services agency confirmed on Twitter that multiple people had been shot.

Police said there were separate shootings "within the same area" and that "both scenes are secure at this time." Authorities have advised residents to stay away from Austin downtown.
