The Chinese Foreign Ministry says China is investigating a Japanese national on suspicion of threatening China's national security. The ministry also says it has informed the Japanese Embassy in China of this.

Saturday's confirmation follows a report by Japan's Kyodo news that a Japanese man involved in a China-Japan exchange group had been detained in China.
