Russian President Vladimir Putin has held talks with Slovenian President Borut Pahor on a visit to the EU nation.

The two leaders discussed security and unity in Europe. The Kremlin sees Slovenia as an ally in its quest to end EU sanctions on Russia.

Russia was a big export market for Slovenian food products before conflict broke out in Ukraine. And Slovenia has a stake as a transit country for a proposed pipeline carrying Russia gas to southern Europe.
