China's National Center for the Performing Arts has just opened a special exhibition celebrating the rich and diversified musical legacies that have developed along the silk road.
At the opening ceremony, visitors were treated with some authentic Ugyur music performances. The exhibition features over 120 relics from Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Murals, sculptures, musical instruments and archives introduce viewers to unique musical genres that can only be found along the Silk Road.

Due to Xinjiang's particular geography -- regional musical styles have developed along different paths -- with musical traditions varying from town to town. The Center's Xinjiang exhibition ends on September 15th.
