China's foreign minister Wang Yi has urged Japan not to intervene in the South China Sea issue, saying Japan is not directly concerned in any disputes there.
The appeal came during talks with Japan's foreign minister Fumio Kishida in the capital of Laos, Vientiane. Wang said China and ASEAN have committed to the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea.
He warned Japan not to exacerbate tensions, and to take steps to create conditions for better ties with China. Kishida said Japan is willing to enhance high-level exchange with China, expand economic and anti-terror cooperation, and deal with differences appropriately.
