China's foreign minister Wang Yi says China aims to push forward multi-lateral cooperation in East Asia within the framework of ASEAN Plus Three, or APT.

The comment came during the ASEAN foreign ministers meeting in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Wang stressed that the APT platform has played a vital role in facilitating cooperation among nations in eastern Asia.

He also called on member countries to appropriately handle relations and to adjust their cooperative mechanisms to realize common prosperity. Foreign ministers from China, Japan and South Korea said a trilateral summit is expected later this year.
