Beijing meteorological authorities warn that the capital will experience heavy rain from Sunday night to Monday.

Some areas will have to brace for torrential rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Since the heavy rainstorm on Wednesday, Beijing has been under the yellow warning for geological disasters, the third highest of China's four-tier warning system.

The rainfall is expected to affect traffic during morning peak hours on Monday. Meanwhile, Beijing tourism authorities say that 39 A-level scenic spots in and around mountainous areas have been closed in case of landslides.
