The ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, or AMM, is one of the events being held by Laos as part of its 2016 chairmanship of the regional organisation.

Since the founding of ASEAN in 1967, the AMM has been an important mechanism to discuss and implement decisions made by regional leaders. In addition to economic development, security challenges are expected to be addressed in the meeting, including extremism, terrorism, and migrant issues. The US has called for ASEAN to discuss the South China Sea issue at the AMM, but China has said ASEAN should guard against intervention in matters by powers outside the region.
