Intense flooding in the city of Xingtai -- in North China's Hebei Province -- has left people 16 dead and 11 missing.
Heavy rain hit the city initially on Tuesday, and triggered an average precipitation level of 167 millimeters over the following 48 hours. It was as high as 350 millimeters in some areas of the city.
Torrential rain caused flooding, with 21 counties and more than 760-thousand people affected. Nearly 90-thousand peole were forced to relocate.
More than 4 thousand houses collapsed. Direct economic losses are estimated to be about 650 million yuan, or nearly one hundred million US dollars.
