Twenty-one others including children are injured, three in serious condition. A man was found dead near the scene who appeared to have committed suicide.

The authorities say he was likely the gunman, later identified as an 18-year-old Iranian -German from Munich. His motive is still unclear. A witness says three other men were fleeing the site.

However, the police have confirmed the three were not involved. After the attack, several hundred policemen were deployed around the site. Munich's public transport system has reopened following a lockdown right after the attack.
