German media have quoted local police as saying the first gunshot was heard at around 5:52 pm local time at a McDonald's restaurant.

Phone footage taken by a witness showed the attacker -- dressed in black -- opening fire repeatedly on fleeing people. Another witness said the attacker announced he was German, and continued firing onto a street before entering the Olympia mall near the Olympic stadium.
