A US policy institute says it may have located a secret nuclear facility used by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. A report by the Institute for Science and International Security said an early centrifuge research facility was located at Panghyon Aircraft Plant, some 45 kilometers west of the Yongbyon nuclear site.
The research facility is mostly used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons. Most of the DPRK's nuclear facilities are concentrated in Yongbyon county, including an R&D institute, a training center and reactors. The DPRK also maintains a nuclear reactor in Taechon County, a testing facility at Punggye-ri, and multiple uranium mining sites around the country.
