Chinese President Xi Jinping added "cultural confidence" to the previous "three confidences" propagated by the Communist Party of China (CPC) during his speech to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPC on July 1.

Xi said all party members should stay true to the mission and move forward while sticking to the basic line of the party with confidence in the road, theory, political system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and continue on pushing forward the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Cultural confidence is more of a basic, profound and enduring confidence. Culture is the crystal of a national character and soul, which relates to a nation's survival and revitalization.

Cultural confidence means endorsing contemporary practices in China

Cultural confidence is new key words for China's cultural development that generate strategic importance to Chinese and global development.

Culture is a complicated system. The culture of a nation stands for aesthetic appreciation, pursuit and ideals from ancient to modern times, linking the past with its future.

"Cultural confidence" under today's Chinese context refers to socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.

The modifier for the newly-added "cultural confidence" continues to be "socialism with Chinese characteristics" as in the previous "three confidences."

Cultural confidence favors contemporary practices in China, as the voice for China's development achievements and vision expressed in a cultural dimension.

Once the developing road, theory and political system of a society land down to cultural aspects, it will get a new compact and sublimation.

Cultural confidence supports development of Chinese civilization

The road, theory and system of socialism with Chinese characteristics are the creations of contemporary Chinese to realize the national revitalization. They are adapted in the soil of contemporary China instead of getting transplanted from a Western country or ancient era.

What is the socialist culture of Chinese characteristics? It has a race property remaining consistent with the national culture inclusive of tradition and catalyzing a new momentum.

Cultural confidence is based on the cultural needs and creations of the people that stand for inheriting an excellent traditional culture and developing innovation to step onto the world stage.

Cultural confidence means equal participation in global civilization dialogue

Nowadays, cross-state communications are primarily cultural exchanges. Chinese civilization had been formed deeper amid exchanges with other civilizations.

Before Christ, China developed the Silk Road where Zhang Qian, an imperial envoy of the Han Dynasty in the 2nd Century BC took visits to regions in Central Asia, and the Tang Dynasty sent  imperial envoys to many countries to establish diplomatic ties.

Additionally, there's Zheng He, a diplomat and fleet admiral in the  Ming Dynasty who commanded seven expeditionary voyages to Asia and East Africa from 1405-1433, followed by people's learning from western modern scientific and technological knowledge during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Chinese culture development is a history of cross-cultural communications between China and other countries. Culture holds a comprehensive national strength.

When a country declines, a self-contemptuous cultural mentality gets formed. When a country marches on a road of development, cultural confidence will rise subsequently.

China is a firm power to defend world peace. China's confidence in culture promotes deeper and broader global cultural communications that boost further development of human civilization.
