Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is currently chairing meetings with his national security council and shortly after with the cabinet.
This comes after returning to the capital for the first time since the failed coup. The council is composed of top military figures and security ministers. Erdogan told supporters earlier that "an important decision" would be announced after the meeting, without specifying further details.
This comes as controversy grows over the scope of the legal crackdown against those behind the coup plot. Now more than 50,000 people have been targeted as being involved, which includes people from the judiciary, the military and eduction departments, among others.
