Video footage of a key moment during the truck attack in Nice on Thursday night has surfaced, showing an unidentified motorcyclist trying to stop the attacker.

Footage recorded by Richard Gutjahr, a German tourist, showed a motorcyclist who pulled alongside the truck, leapt off his vehicle, and clung to the door of the truck in a bid to stop the attacker. The motorcycle was partially crushed under the truck's tyres, and Gutjahr saw two police officers on foot fire at the truck's windscreen.

Gutjahr later said in a telephone interview: "I thought it could either be a drunk driver or a terror attack, until that incredibly brave man jumped on the truck."
