Theresa May is set to take over from David Cameron as prime minister of the United Kingdom on Wednesday. Her appointment comes after a series of political shocks caused by the UK's decision to withdraw from the European Union. David Cameron will tender his resignation to Queen Elizabeth who will then call upon Theresa May to form a government.
European leaders have asked the government to move quickly to renegotiate its relationship with the EU but May has indicated she will not be rushed into triggering the formal procedure for Brexit.
David Cameron has one last duty as PM before when she negotiate Britain's way out of the European Union.
