The number of Chinese participants at this year's Farnborough Air Show hit a record high. And China's belt and road initiative, or as the show's organization calls it, the "one belt, one sky initiative", has become a hot topic.

"Altogether 32 Chinese firms came this year. We have a conference going on following China's one belt and one road initiative, called one belt and one sky initiative," said Shaun Ormrod, CEO of Farnborough Air Show.

"We've actually bought many large planes. We've bought 100 Airbus planes, we also bought Boeing. The Chinese domestically made ARJ21 is a very good model for provincial air routes. It has passed 5000 hours of test flights and has unquestionable safety standards," said Mike Poon, chairman of Friedmann Pacific Asset Management.

"The Farnborough Air Show is a great platform to introduce Chinese made civil aeroplanes to the world. For example, today we've signed contracts for 60 ARJ planes, it represents the first batch of our products sold to Southeast Asian region, and it is a significant landmark for Chinese jets tapping the global market," said Zhao Bin, director of Marketing, COMAC.
