South Korea has announced it will deploy a US-supplied anti-missile system known as THAAD in its southeastern county of Seongju.

The defence ministry says the location of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system will provide protection for up to two-thirds of the South Korean population and for nuclear power plants and oil storage facilities.
  
Washington and Seoul announced deployment plans last week despite opposition from neighboring countries.
