Wu Ken, China's ambassador to the Netherlands, has said the South China Sea arbitration has disgraced international law and has no positive influence in resolving the South China Sea dispute.

He said, "The arbitration started when the former Philippines government abused the legal procedure. Due to extraterritorial jurisdiction by the tribunal and intervention by the United States, the arbitration is a freak case combining abuses of rights, arrogation, and hegemony, which is political farce through and through."

"It makes all the upholders of justice feel ashamed, and it disgraces international law. The so-called arbitration has no positive significance in solving the South China Sea dispute, just like a roll of waste paper."

"It has seriously damaged the integrity and authority of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It will not change China's foreign policy for a friendly neighborhood or China's patience and sincerity in peacefully resolving disputes through direct negotiations."
