China has completed the construction of four lighthouses on South China Sea reefs, and is building the fifth one, to aid sea navigation. Ministry of Transport official Xu Ruqing said on Sunday that the four lighthouses on reefs including Huayang Reef are already operational. The construction on the Meiji Reef has finished its main part.
Xu said that the lighthouses demonstrate China's efforts to perform its international responsibilities, and have significantly improved the security of vessels passing through one of the world's busiest crude oil and natural gas passage ways.
