Officials haven't managed to drain every part of the city. Students and faculty at Wuhan university are still dealing with the aftermath of the torrential rain.
Over fifty old trees on Wuhan University's campus have fallen over.
after torrential rain pounded this city for days on end.
Part of the university's campus have turned into huge ponds.
Thanks to an effective drainage system, most areas of the campus are relatively dry. And activities are back to normal...
But there are still areas that need help
"This courtyard is located in the low-lying area of the university, so it is hard to pump the water out. We have to rely on our own drainage pipeline to take the water out," said Zhou Long, Wuhan University.
Some students say the stagnant water has reached one meter high.
People living on the first floor of a building nearby have been relocated to a dry location. But those living on the upper floors, are left stranded.
Rescue workers deliver daily necessities with the help of tractors.
"Our university campus has many hills and old trees, as well as ancient architecture. More rain is forecasted, so we must take precautions against accidents caused by the rain. Buildings can collapse, landslides, and flooding. We've arranged for people to patrol the area everyday," Zhou said.
There are more than 90,000 people currently learning and living in Wuhan campus.
With more rain forecasted -- ensuring a safe and well-ordered campus for all the students and teachers at Wuhan University won't be an easy task.
