Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is in China on a trip to deepen bilateral ties. Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Tsipras in Beijing earlier today. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation under the Belt and Road initiative, as well as on energy, transportation and regional stability.

While in the capital, Tsipras also visited the Forbidden City and attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tian’anmen Square.
After his visit to Beijing, Tsipras left for Shanghai, where he will meet the mayor of the city, and top Chinese business leaders, including executives from the country’s online retail giant Alibaba, and one of China’s top investment companies, Fosun.
Tsipras will also visit with executives from COSCO, the Chinese shipping company that bought a major stake in a Greek port earlier this year.
The Greek Prime Minister will wrap up his five-day visit to China Wednesday.
