Full coverage: 95 years of glory

The Communist Party of China will celebrate its 95th anniversary July 1. And marking the occasion, the venue in Shanghai where the CPC held its very first national congress has undergone a major refurbishment and expansion. It will reopen to public Friday.

On July 23, 1921, the first National Congress of the CPC was attended by 13 people from across China. It was held at a two-story building on 106 Wang Zhi Road, or now the 76 Xingye Road. In 1952, the building was turned into a memorial. Now, its exhibiting space was expanded from 450 square meters to 1,000 square meters. It also has multimedia facilities and 120 new exhibits now.

There are materials related to Russian intelligence agent Vladimir Abramovich Neiman, a representative of the Communist International. He was among the two foreigners at the first CPC National Congress.

An ink slab that belonged to the other foreigner, a Dutch member of the Communist International who went by the alias Maring, will also be put on show. The slab was donated by the daughter of Maring.
