Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who has been suspended from office in an ongoing impeachment process, is expected to provide a written statement in her defense today.
The Brazilian president was suspended by the Senate last month for up to 180 days, as she was accused of doctoring government fiscal accounts to hide a huge deficit. The Senate will hold two more rounds of voting on her impeachment in August.
In the final vote, a two-thirds majority, or 54 senators, is needed to find Rousseff guilty, and officially remove her from office.
