President Xi Jinping and Putin agreed to strengthen mutual support, and enhance political and strategic mutual trust. They also witnessed the signing of more than 30 deals, and pledged to push forward the dovetailing of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union for broader regional economic cooperation.
China and Russia are marking the 15th anniversary of their good-neighbor treaty of friendship and cooperation. The two countries have affirmed friendship from generation to generation.
“The visit of President Putin is very fruitful. It will enhance and vitalize our comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Twenty years ago, China and Russia established that comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and 15 years ago, we signed the agreement on friendly neighbouring nations. These two agreements have a major significance for our relationship,” Xi said.
“We are pursuing economic cooperation, as China is the first trade partner of Russia. The world economy is not stable for many areas, like currency and energy, and that has affected us. The stance of Russia and China is quite close, and even sometimes, we are in the same position, in terms of international affairs. We will continue dialogue on international issues,” Putin said.
