Chinese President Xi Jinping has attended the 16th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. That's held in the Uzbekistani capital of Tashkent. He delivered a speech on the SCO's development and urged its members to expand cooperation.
Remarkable -- that's how Chinese President Xi Jinping described the achievements of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization over the past 15 years.
At a speech in the SCO meeting, Xi Jinping noted how the regional bloc advocated and put into practice the "Shanghai Spirit" -- or the cooperation that fosters mutual trust and benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diversity, and pursuit of common development.
For the continued growth of the SCO, President Xi puts forward a five-point proposal:

Leaders pledge to deepen effective cooperation
During the meeting, the SCO leaders reaffirmed their support for the "Belt and Road" initiative and pledged to deepen effective cooperation.
They also reached consensus on maintaining maritime legal order in accordance with international laws.
Xi wraps visit to Serbia, Poland, Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan is President Xi's last stop of his three-nation tour which also took him to Serbia and Poland.
During his visits, China and the three countries agreed on improving diplomacy, trade and business, as well as cultural exchanges.
