At the 16th SCO summit in Tashkent, India and Pakistan Friday signed a Memorandum of Obligations, kick-starting the process of their accession into the group as full members. And Russia is in favor of expanding the SCO even more. Earlier, CCTV spoke to political commentator Einar Tangen about the organization's expansion.
"It was a very simple organization when it started, but now it has become much more complex. If does add India and Pakistan, which looks like it will, you are talking about one half of world's total population, bloc of trade and security. Putin he has already said he's in favor of bringing Iran into. I think he's looking for a wider trade pact, disappointed at the six month extension of sanctions against Russia. I think this is pushing him increasingly closing to China. Because of the amount of resources Russia has and China needs, I think you gonna continue to see this kind of drift eastward," he said.
