One of the crown jewels of Sino-Uzbek cooperation is the Pengsheng Industrial Park. Its the biggest non-energy project jointly developed by the two countries.
The Pengsheng Industrial Park is in Sirdaryo state, some 70 kilometers southwest of the capital Tashkent. It covers an area of one square kilometer, with a total investment of nearly U.S.$100 million.
The park was the first project funded by a Chinese private enterprise in Uzbekistan with the backing of both governments, and it has boomed since its establishment in 2009.
Nine companies, produce goods ranging from cellphones to shoes. It provides jobs for more than 1,500 employees, nine out of ten of them are local residents.
