China's president Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan have been invited to Belweder Palace, for a welcome dinner hosted by Poland's president Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda.

Xi says both countries have enjoyed a long history of friendship and his visit now is to enhance mutual understanding and trust, as well as to further cooperation in various fields.

He says Poland has a strategic location to realise the potential of the Belt and Road Initiative.

President Duda says Poland is willing to join the Initiative as a founding member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
