The Belgian federal prosecutor's office has said that police have arrested 12 people since Friday evening in a major anti-terror operation. It comes after police carried out more than 40 raids across Belgium. Of the 12 people arrested, three have been charged with attempting to commit terrorist murder and participating in the activities of a terrorist group.
The other nine suspects have since been released. Police also carried out searches of more than 150 garages, but uncovered no weapons or explosives. Belgium's prime minister Charles Michel chaired a meeting of the government's security council after the raids. He warned that terror attacks are still possible, but that public events, including those related to the Euro 2016 soccer championships, would go ahead as planned.
